Black bear with a stick demonstrates how skilled he can be in a rib-tickling video

Have you ever wondered if Po, "The Dragon Warrior," has a basis in reality? This Japanese black bear is obviously not the panda bear of "Kung Fu Panda," but he definitely has the moves. Apparently, Master Shifu has been sneaking into the zoo in Japan and training a Japanese black bear in the fine art of twirling a stick. The bear was caught on video during one of his practice sessions.
Japanese black bears, although they have many similarities in diet to American black bears, are, according to Bears of the World, actually much smaller. National Geographic says that American black bears will grow to be 5 feet (1.5 m) to 6 feet (2 m) tall and weigh 200 pounds (91 kg) to 600 pounds (272 kg). Bears of the World shares that Japanese black bears will grow to 3.5 feet (1 m) to 5 feet (1.5 m) tall and weigh 130 pounds (59 kg) to 260 pounds (118 kg). A distinguishing mark on the Japanese black bear is the yellow crescent patch of fur on its chest.

The snapshot from the video you can see below shows a little bit of the yellow crescent patch that distinguishes the smaller Japanese black bear.
Size has no bearing on skill, though. Since being posted on YouTube in 2010, the video above has received more than six million hits as people have watched in amazement as the bear twirls its stick over and over, twirling it behind its head and back to the front. He even brings his feet into play a few times. Watch out Po. Your title of "Dragon Warrior" might be in danger.
