Lion cub perches near sleeping Mama's head – total cuteness ensues

What’s a little lion cub to do when he wants a hug, but Mom is asleep? Well, wake her up, of course.
All moms will relate to how she reacted in this viral video: Probably a little cranky, she gathers the cub up anyway and gives him a good cuddle before letting him go (and getting back to her nap).

Of course, as exhausting as being a mom can be, this one probably wasn’t hurting for sleep. According to Sleep.org, female lions tend to sleep 15 to 18 hours a day. If that seems like a lot, male lions actually sleep even longer: 18 to 20 hours! This is because the female lions do a lot of the work, including hunting.
Mom.me reports that lionesses also do the "lion's share" of the parenting duties. The cubs can’t even open their eyes until they are about 3 weeks old, but by 4 weeks they can run, so mama lions quickly have their hands full. Once the cubs are about 3 months old, they go hunting with mom and start to learn to contribute to the pride. They’re weaned at about 6 to 10 months old. The male cubs either form their own pride or take over the current pride by about 3 years old.
