Stories like this can be hard to talk about. Sometimes people can do scary and cruel things, and it's more common than we realize. But sometimes, stories like this can give us a glimmer of hope, while also reminding us that these problems exist, and we need to do something about them.
This story begins in Ethiopia. As NBC News reports, a 12-year-old girl is abducted by a group of men and beaten. They are doing this to force her to marry one of the men. Sadly, this is fairly common in rural Ethiopia.

However, though she was beaten, her story does have a happy ending.
BBC News says, though they aren't sure, that the girl's cries may have sounded like a lion cub. Whether or not that's the case, a small pack of lions showed up and rescued the girl.
Remarkably, they didn't harm her at all. They protected her, and when police showed up, they left her in their care and disappeared into the forest.
